Our Rational For Lesson #3:
In the last of the three classes, to further enhance the sharing of ideas the students will present their projects to the class to ensure that everyone in the class covers all the subject areas. This will allow for all students to share their methods of understanding with their peers. Through having to teach their peers the students will be part of fostering a community of learning and they will be able to learn from each other in a social situation. Following each presentation the teacher will give feedback to each group so that the students will be able to engage in reflection of their work. This will allow for the teacher to help clarify any misunderstandings that the students encountered in their group. There will also be as short question period so that the entire class can engage in reflection of each group’s methods. They will also complete a peer review of the presentations; this will force them to be critical of their peer’s projects and teaching ability. They must give short rational for their evaluation to ensure they are engaged in critical analysis of the projects. By taking a critical view of others they will also take a more critical view of themselves and how they internalized the information.
